Celebrate Sankashti in Dubai.

By Team Arpan

Sankashti Chaturthi is one occasion that is observed in every lunar month. It is celebrated on every fourth day of the full moon according to the Hindu calendar. If Sankashti is on Tuesday, then it is called ‘Angaraka Chaturthi’ and is considered highly auspicious for observing fast.

There are certain rituals that you are supposed to follow during this occasion:

Devotees observe a fast on this day. They eat only fruits, vegetables and root plants throughout the day.

The idol of Lord Ganesha is worshipped with specific items. You can order them through our website as well, dhurva grass, fresh Indian flowers and incense sticks (agarbatti’s). Lamps are lit, and devotees read scriptures from the Ganesh Puja. The rituals for this day end with the sighting of the moon.

There are special sweets or naivedya, including modaks that are offered to the deity during the puja.

Apart from worshipping Lord Ganesha, the moon is also worshipped on Sankashti Chaturthi. Water, sandalwood paste, rice and flowers are offered in the direction of the moon to seek blessings. To know more about the timings of puja, click here.
